Diamonds are most commonly known to be white in colour however diamonds actually come in every colour imaginable; yellow, black, champagne, with the rarest being blue and pink.
In 2014, one of the most expensive diamonds was mined in South Africa at the famous Cullinan Mine, renowned for producing giant gems. It is the size of a strawberry and weighs a staggering 122.50ct!
Blue diamonds get their colour from small amounts of chemical element ‘boron, which gets trapped in their crystal structure. Blue diamonds are one of the rarest diamonds, after red diamonds which are almost never found.
